Visiting the weaving women of Mwatate leaves you in awe. Living with disabilities does not stop them from hand crafting sisal fiber baskets of great quality. All they need is a world market to access their products. Says their representative:
“Nimetembelea wamama wa vidasi Mruru na Manganga. Shida hakuna soko, tena wako chini ya mti” –
“We have visited with the disabled women weavers of Mruru and Mangara area. The main challenge remains lack of market and a secure place where they can do their craft, they currently weave under a tree”
