Support a Dream for the Disabled

We are starting with a foundation fundraiser of $10,000 that will help us lay the project’s foundation.
Goal
To become independent and be able to raise their children without begging. They want to build 14 studio units in the village for rent.
Why:
They are tired of the pity, the poverty and the indignity of being chased away for being a bother. One of the MDN members’ children says: “My mother has raised six of us while totally blind (a result of Retinitis Pigmentosa) so she understands the pain of disability. She wants to see members of the group achieve a dignified level of independence.”
Achieving the dream:

The group’s dream of rental units will start giving them the funds they need to raise their families. No one wants to live in shame and helplessness. With your help, this group of differently abled mothers, fathers and parents of disabled children will achieve this wonderful dream.
The journey so far:
- One acre piece of land already acquired for the project in Mwatate Subcounty, Kenya.
- Architectural designs, floor plans and bill of quantities have already been acquired from a professional architect and spatial planner. See Bedsitter Project.
The journey ahead:
Fundraising goal – $55,000
How will this be achieved?
If 5500 of our best friends can each buy a symbolic brick for $10, we will help the group see their dream come true. Help us build this dream, one brick at a time, and pass on the message to friends and well-wishers.
